Mixer: chapter 16

Chapter 16: new place

When I tell this news to my friends, they are shocked with my departure. I too is sad of leaving this school and my new friends but this is a mission specially given by the principal. I have no right to turn down the mission. Also, I have not been to the outside world for a year. I wonder how my human friends have been doing.

“Must you leave?” asks Fiona when I am packing up my things into my suitcase.

“Yes, I will miss you all.” I stop packing and hug my two friends, who are having wet eyes.

“What about the guys? Have you told them about your departure?” asks Melissa.

“No. I cannot find them anywhere. Can you help me tell them?” I ask Melissa.

“Count on me. You take care of yourself when you are outside.” Melissa warns with concern.

“I wish we can go with you!” Fiona says and sobs.

“Come on girls. It’s not like we will not see each other again. I will not be forever outside. I will be back right after my mission is finish.” I say to my friends.
We spent the whole night in my room talking. When dawn comes, with my friends still sleeping on my bed, I leave my room with carefulness, trying not to make as little sound as possible.  I bid farewell to the gate keeper and go forward to the black, expensive like car which park in front of the gate. The chauffeur steps out and opens the door to me and I slid into the car.

I stare at the building until the car turn around the corner, and trees cover the building. The scenery changes after 30 minutes. The car passes through the barrier, a barrier that prevents human from finding this place. Two or three storey faint white buildings packed close together soon come to view. With another 5 minute, the car stops at a freshly painted light blue two storey house.

“We have reached our destination miss. This will be the place where you are going to live, with a housekeeper and two girl teenage human live here,” says the chauffeur with politeness.  He steps out, open the door for me and lift out my luggage. I thank him for his kindness.

“It is my work, miss.” With a nod and a bow, he left me alone on the front door steps. I hesitate for a moment and braced myself for what is going to come. I ring the doorbell and held my breath when the door is being open by someone inside.

“Who’s here?” asks a middle age woman. She looks kind and pretty and she smiles when she sees me. “You must be Miss Pike, the new girl. I am the housekeeper, you can call me Meg.”

I give her a nod and she welcomed me in with a warm smile. She shows me to my room after closing the front door. She tell me that there are also two girls living here, both going to the same school that I am going to be in later. They request it, saying that they do not want to be separated from each other.

I gasped when I see the room. The wall is painted with light blue, with drawing decorations like flowers, birds, butterflies painted on the wall.

                “Beautiful!” I gasp with awe.

“Now put your things here and prepare to go to school, dear. I will show you around after school ends.” She left the room, giving me privacy to freshen myself.

I clean myself a bit and grab my bag from the chair. Meg stops me on the front door and gives me smoked salmon sandwiches as breakfast and lunch, with the amount she had packed for me. She waves me off, saying that the girls have left just now.

I bite into a piece of sandwiches while walking to the school, which only need not more than five minute. A new school, new environment and an important mission are waiting for me.

               So is my destiny.
